Verified ReviewerProduct worked fairly well for a short period until it broke
Mosquito Magnet worked fairly well, but was very sensitive to figuring out the best location. Unfortunately not long after purchase the product stopped functioning and would exhibit a flashing red light immediately upon turning it on.
I contact Mosquito Magnet who offered a series of steps to resolve which did not resolve the problem. Each contact I received a series of steps. This was frustrating as I was very confident the unit was simply broken or faulty. The company now refuses to replace the product stating it is out of warranty.
So what can happen is it breaks within warranty, Mosquito Magnet slowly responds with steps and back and forth and then you're out of warranty and they don't have to replace it.
I think they should replace the product if the issue was opened during the warranty period -- the customer shouldn't suffer due to Mosquito Magnet wanting to send steps and stretch out the time line. The product is very expensive, over $300, and is now useless.
User's recommendation: If you have issues, demand replacement before warranty expires.
Purchased Executive Model for $905. Stopped working within warranty time and NO HELP from Customer Service. Bad company & do not recommend
Battery is represented as one charge and should run full season. Our battery went nine days.
Company does not replace batteries & Amazon carries the replacement @ $25 per. Poorly designed product, poorly run Company & definitely not worth dealing with for $905...buy Thermacell products...more affordable & more reliable
User's recommendation: DO NOT BUY
No resolution
Machine is brand new but wont stay running keeps returning to warming up would like a replacement before requesting with amazon

My name is Mathias Levarek and I tried to contact mosquito magnet to do a social media collaboration. We have almost 11 million organic followers (@agrotonomy) combined across our various social media platforms.
I spoke to someone who obviously works out of a call center who pretended to be located in Pennsylvania.
I just wanted to know who should I contact because no one is responding to my email.
Of course, the guy I spoke to only could refer me to the email that is featured on the website. So in terms of my experience, I did not go anywhere calling
Failed after warrantee!
When it worked (a couple of months) it worked well.
Then it wouldnt light, I assumed it was out of propane, but it was the end of the season so I just put it into storage for the winter.
Next spring, nope, it wont light.
First clue that this is a shady company try to find warrantee information on their web site.
I eventually found that the propane shut off solenoid sticks and wont open. Its an obvious design/manufacturing defect.
No problem, Il just swap the part
Nope, cant buy them
These type of things a just a few dollars, but the one thats used here isnt available from anywhere, even off shore.
>
Basically, these things are very poorly built. Have no support and cant be fixed.
>
A bad, overpriced, product from a shady company.
User's recommendation: AVOID ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY!

Verified ReviewerMosquito Magnet 90% of the time will not run.
Spring has arrived, mosquitoes are in full force, once again mosquito magnet will not run.
New battery, full tank of propane, and it will not ignite. Same issue year after year.
I now have to take it apart and hopefully stumble upon the reason it will not run. With any luck Ill get it running and trap my annual cup full of mosquitoes.
User's recommendation: Don’t waste your money
They never shipped my product.
They never shipped my product. When I called and asked about getting expedited shipping they wanted me to pay for it.
Thanks to Mosquito Magnet's incompetence, we had to look for a last-minute solution to keep the mosquitos away from our wedding guests.
- Wedding guests were bothered by mosquitos
Preferred solution: Apology
User's recommendation: Purchase something else from a local store that you can pickup in person.
Terrible Customer Service
Customer support is completely useless at mosquito magnet. This is an overpriced piece of junk that didn't catch anything.

after 1 year, fan didn't stay on. Called support, went thru all their resets.
Told it will cost $110 to get it fixed plus shipping. What a farce.
- Worked one year
Preferred solution: Let the company propose a solution

I fixed two machines, fuel nozzle is inexpensive oil burner nozzle part. 1.50 gph 45 deg A cone.
Confirmed weak coil on fuel valve on the other by placing strong fridge magnet against it. Ordered generic 1/4" solenoid fuel valve, and will just replace the magnet coil part.
User's recommendation: great concept, expensive to buy and operate, fix yourself
Fails to restart every time propane tank is changed.
Worthless Customer Service, advice is always to take everything apart, reassemble and use new batteries! Love it when it works. But this is the most inconsistent item I have ever had to deal with.
- Great when it works
- Great vwhen it works
- Loved the performance when it worked
- Awful customer service

Great Machine, guaranteed to break
I've gone through 5 defenders over the last 6 years. They last on average 2-4 years, if you're lucky. I'm done, my last 2 just broke.
Mosquito magnet is a waste of money
Patriot worked for one year, had it repaired under warrenty once. Next year wouldn’t work , out of warrenty.
It would cost more to fix than its worth. I lost $400.00 on it.
It’s was also expecting maintain as well. Don’t know how they stay in business.

Worst Customer Service in the industry
Purchased the unit from the Canadian supplier. Sent many emails and phoned to see where unit was after days of their website saying it was not picked up by the carrier yet.
Absolutely no response, but it eventually showed up on my doorstep. After putting it together I am unable to place the mosquito net in the correct place, when the top was shut the net folded together to the point that an insect couldn't get through the opening. I've emailed customer service on many occasions, called and begged for help, but there in no way they will even as much as give you the time of day, let alone help you through the problem.
$777.00 is a lot of money just to end up with a lawn ornament. Product may be good, but if you can't get even the least amount, what good is buying their product?
Not Dependable, expensive repairs
We purchased Mosquito Magnet Patriot April 2016, lasted a couple months and stopped working after several calls to customer service we wound up mailing it to repairman who basically replaced the entire working mechanism parts to get it to work and mailed it back. It worked two months and was put in storage for the next year.
we did get it to work for the summer of 2017 with a lot of restarting and clearing it out and again calls to customer service. Now this summer after it being in storage it won't work at all. We have spent several hours on the phone to customer service and did all they told us to do three times and still won't work.
Since the warranty is for only one year they will not extend it even though it has never worked as expected. .
In 2017 we purchased a Mosquito Magnet Independence sine the Patriot wouldn't work and so far it is working good, however changing out the net when its full of Mosquito's is very messy and many of them get away.
I do not recommend the Mosquito Magnet , very frustrating while being eaten up by Mosquitoes.
- Said they repaired it but it still does not work
- Does not work as advertised
- I expected it to last more than a yeat trouble free
Preferred solution: Extend Warreny and repair it again, since it didnt work right from the beginning
Good product when it works. Two problematic units. After sales support lacking
I bought a Mosquito Magnet Professional unit for just under $1,000 in hopes to reduce the swarms of mosquitoes that inhabit our yard each summer in Maine. The original unit caught mosquitoes like gangbusters.
I could not believe how many of the critters were stuffed in the net only after a short time of operation! Truly amazing. There was one problem however, there is a solar charger on the unit that is supposed to make it "cordless". However, the battery would constantly discharge so I needed to keep it plugged in to work.
At the end of the first season, I returned it for repair. I received a "new" unit back but I could immediately tell that it was a slightly different unit. (not the one that I originally shipped). The following summer I fired it up with a new tank of propane.
After a week or two following the arrival of the swarm, I checked the net. I could count a few skeeters there but absolutely NOTHING like the performance of the original unit. I completed the troubleshooting tips recommended by the manufacturer. (new tank of propane, new attractant cartridge, used a cleaning/purge canister, changed location).
Still no performance. I went through two tanks of propane with very little to show for it. I put the unit in the shelf in the garage and gave up. After regretting paying close to a grand for a shelf fixture, I recently decided to contact the manufacturer to try to repair it or get credit for trade in on a new one.
Found out that they dont offer repairs. The repairs are handled by an external service provider. I tried calling and just get an answering machine. Left my contact info but never got a call back.
Contacted customer service again and am waiting on a reply. I have a feeling this unit will probably end up in the dump. Its a shame, it worked really well.
Too bad the reliability or service isnt there. Therefore, I can NOT recommend mosquito magnet
- Loved the performance when it worked
- After sales support and customer care
- Reliability
Preferred solution: I want a fully functioning reliable unit. I need mine repaired or a replacement.

Lowes didn't make the product, why are you blaming them? Your complaint should be with the manufacturer, not the retail store you purchased it at. Have you contacted the manufacturer to see if they are willing to do anything for you as it is the manufacturer that is responsible for any warranty on their products.
